ダイバーシティが推進される現代。
世界各地の少数言語が、静かに、だが猛烈なスピードで失われていることは、あまり知られていない。地球上に現存する言語は7000以上。しかし数十年後には、その50〜90％が消えてしまうとも予測されている。ユネスコは、話者が減少して危機に直面する言語を「消滅危機言語」と認定。日本でも８言語が認定されており、本展示では最も深刻とされるアイヌ語をテーマとした。

少数言語の消滅危機という社会問題を可視化するべく、私たちは言語に宿る美に着目。言語とは歴史や文化、人々の営みそのものであり、すべての言語には民族が培ってきた精神世界が息づいている。私たちは、言語の利便性や有用性ではなく、その美しさに光を当て、「祈り」や「願い」の象徴であるジュエリーで表現しようと試みた。

In today’s world, where diversity is actively promoted, few are aware of the silent yet rapid disappearance of minority languages worldwide. More than 7,000 languages are spoken across the globe, but it is estimated that 50–90% of them may vanish within a few decades. UNESCO has designated languages with declining numbers of speakers as "endangered languages." Among the eight endangered languages identified in Japan, this exhibit focuses on Ainu, which is considered the most critically at risk. 

To shed light on the social issue of disappearing minority languages, we chose to highlight the beauty inherent in language. Language is a reflection of history, culture, and human lives; every language carries within it the spiritual essence of the people who nurtured it. Rather than emphasizing the utility or practicality of language, we sought to celebrate its beauty, expressing it through jewelry—a universal symbol of "prayer" and "hope."
