ディスレクシア（読み書き困難）の症状をもつ人は、日本では7~8%と言われている。しかし、その事実はあまり浸透しておらず、親、教師あるいは本人ですら気づいていないことが多い。学習を進める中で困難に直面する子どもたちをサポートする制度も始まったばかり。そんなディスレクシアへの理解が進むきっかけを生み出せないだろうか。メンバーの家族がディスレクシアであることから、このプロジェクトがスタートした。

私たちが企画したのは、ディスレクシアに悩む小学生の状況を疑似体験できるVRコンテンツ。ディスレクシアの症状はさまざまだが、そのうちの2つをVRで再現することによって、理解を深めるきっかけとなるものを目指した。美しさは、見た目だけの問題ではない。人と人が理解し合える社会、それもまた美のひとつといえるのではないだろうか、という想いをこめて。

In Japan, 7–8% of people are estimated to have dyslexia (difficulty with reading and writing). However, awareness of this fact is still limited; often, not even parents, teachers, or the individuals themselves recognize it. Support systems for children facing challenges in their learning journey are just beginning to emerge. This project began from the personal experience of one team member whose family member has dyslexia, with a mission to spark greater understanding of the condition.

Our team developed a VR content experience that allows users to simulate the experience of a student struggling with dyslexia. While dyslexia manifests in diverse ways, this VR experience recreates two key symptoms to help foster a deeper understanding of what affected students encounter. Beauty isn’t just about appearance; it’s also about fostering empathy and mutual understanding within society. With this in mind, we created this project with the belief that such understanding is, in itself, a form of beauty.
