Our Window Display Won Bronze at 103rd New York ADC

We are pleased to announce that our window display, ‘Beauty from within’, for the Tokyo Ginza Shiseido Building, won a Bronze at the 103rd New York ADC.

Beauty from within

The tree and wreath were created together with craftsmen from Kyoto, based on the theme of the ancient Japanese aesthetic of traditional crafts.

The motif for the large window display was the ‘Japanese umbrella’. Particular attention was paid to the elements of the ‘bamboo bone and decorative thread’. The design daringly exposing the ‘bamboo bone and decorative threads’, which are originally inside the umbrella and only the user can see, expresses Shiseido's search for beauty and its corporate stance of working on a new definition of beauty.

I am very honoured to receive such a wonderful award from the historic NY ADC Awards. Shiseido is a company that has been engaged in the exploration of the latent beauty of people and the definition of new beauty. By focusing its efforts on a traditional craft (the wagasa umbrella)

The design was created with the aim of carrying on and innovating Japanese traditions. We are very happy that not only the design itself, but also the story behind it, has been recognised.
